See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

Hi! Since we’ve got a lot of new people joining, I thought it was time to update the pinned post on my blog. I’m generally glad to meet other adults, especially other sapphic FFXIV players or fans, but:

1. This is a blog for adults only. Minors DNI. This is non negotiable. If you are under 18 do not follow or interact.

2: This is a blog run by a sapphic lady. My fandom interests are sapphic. This blog is trans/ace/nonbinary/aro/bi/pan/lesbian/gay inclusive. If you are not, this blog is not for you.

3. If you spend your time slamming other fans for liking/disliking different things or disagreeing with your inflammatory fandom views, you are not welcome here. I have neither time not patience for fandom sheriffs and I’m not interested in debating with you. Seriously, don’t.

I’m currently into FFXIV and post about it and other fannish stuff that comes into my orbit. I no longer play SWTOR but still appreciate good content about Lana Beniko and other characters I like.

When I played Star Wars: The Old Republic I wrote a guide for solo players, Rain Plays SWTOR. My goal with the guide was to help players navigate the game and break down some of the more challenging content. As of November 2022 I’ve left the guide up, but please be advised that since I wrote it BEFORE 7.0, I don’t know what may have changed since then.

I also wrote SWTOR fanfiction, which can be found at Ao3. My SWTOR OC info and worldbuilding is here. Fanfic index is at the top of the page. I don’t have a FFXIV index yet, but I’m working on it.

My SWTOR OCs all have profiles here:

Viridana Dragoi (SWTOR version)

Other characters

Previously asked/answered questions and headcanon about my OCs

I am not a fan of the Jedi in Star Wars, with the exception of the ones in Luke’s New Jedi Order from the original extended universe (you know, Mara Jade, Jaina, Jacen, etc.). If you like the Jedi, cool, groovy, I promise I won’t come on your blog and bother you about it, but I just don’t feel the same and I will not debate you about it. I try to post with #Jedi Critical and #Republic Critical when I can, so you can avoid posts which are, you guessed it, Jedi and Republic critical if you wish.

Comments and DMs are for my mutuals only, mostly because I’m really shy and prefer to stay in my own corner with interaction.

The illusion of choice and all that

@staff this is truly a basis for me to never open tumblr desktop again so if that was you guy's aim congrats, you nailed it!!!! Now if you wanted to keep "what makes Tumblr unique" you have never failed better

sarasa-cat

@staff you might want to hire actual user experience researchers and actual user interface designers plus people with actual usability training. Plz note that real people in UX/UI usually have advanced degrees and are not marketing shills or mindless copycats. They have interesting portfolios. The really good ones have a series of peer reviewed ACM publications. ffs.

Wearing diapers, needing a bed pad (chux) or wearing underwear liners for incontinence is actually way more common than a lot of people think. When I started having to wear them, it was really stressful and upsetting until a lot of other people in my life were like "hey, I use those too!"

So if you're having accidents, leaking, having too much moisture, whatever the case may be, try incontinence products. They're totally normal and a part of a lot of people's lives. It's such a relief to not worry about having an accident, you deserve that feeling too.

lmao tumblr letting their users choose whether or not they want their likes to be public but then pulling a twitter 2.0 and showing your likes on your followers’ dashboards and specially saying who liked the posts in their new update, without the users’ consent or a way to turn it off, is actually pretty insane.

like how many times to we — the users — have to tell them we don’t want tumblr to be like any other social media platforms and that tumblr’s being different than twitter, instagram, tiktok is actually what makes us stay on this silly little site.

respectfully @staff you’re driving your users away. stop trying to “fix” things that are good and don’t need to be fixed. we want tumblr to be tumblr. we don’t want the site to be twitter or instagram 2.0

This post isn't entirely true. This feature has been here for months, and it will only show you other people's likes if:

  1. They have public likes (majority of users here doesn't, however few do)
  2. You didn't turn off "Include posts liked by the blogs you follow" in your Dashboard Preferences settings

I had this appear to me a couple of months ago and did some snooping, to find out all the people I saw have public likes. They aren't manually turning off public likes (unless its a bug) or removing the feature to hide likes. Also its not part of the new desktop UI changes

i've started looking at weight and health the way i look at class and income and it really puts a lot of things into a new perspective.

let me explain: in america at least, the lower class have significantly worse health outcomes, even when accounting for other factors. just being poor is enough to make your overall health worse. we don't know that being fat makes your health directly worse, like the data just isn't there, but for a moment, pretend it does.

imagine going to the doctor with a health problem and the doctor looking at your chart and saying well, this problem will be less severe if you go up an income bracket. have you thought about becoming rich? it would really help. start by saving a little money every month.

ridiculous, right?? very few people successfully go from working class to rich, it just doesn't happen on a large scale in society. maybe for a time you pick up some overtime hours, spend a little beyond your means, and appear rich. but eventually you burn out, your car needs to be repaired, and you return to being working class.

we do have this data: only some people can successfully lose large amounts of weight, and only a tiny fraction of people who lose that weight actually keep it off for more than a year. telling people to lose weight for their health is just absurd because they almost certainly can't do it any more than they can double their income for their health.

and yet i see it everywhere. a little poster in my work breakroom tells me to improve my blood pressure by losing weight! a psa on the radio says you need to take care of your heart by losing weight! we can't even conclusively prove that weight is the cause rather than just correlated with a lot of these problems but here it is offered anyway: have you tried being rich?

bumbledeefumble

You hit the nail on the head. A lot of people tend to try and invalidate fatphobia as a form of oppression by saying its not an immutible quality like race or sexuality or gender. The old "you can lose weight, i can't become white/straight/cis" argument.

That's because fatphobia is a lot more like classism; i.e. it's a form of bigotry that is only TECHNICALLY changeable. They're both seen as a lot more changeable than they actually are, for all the reasons you've listed.

OK so how do we get the dash to go back to how it was?

@staff if I wanted to be on bloody twitter or facebook I would be. I do not need or want a dash that looks like those sites. You've made it incredibly hard to find things as well as offering my neurodivergent brain way too many things to look at on one page.

This sucks.

PSA to those who need it: Adblock will allow you to block the Radar and “check out these blogs” sidebar.
